The main role of a Visitor Services Assistant is to facilitate the visitor experience at the Charlestown Navy Yard Visitor Center, Bunker Hill Monument or Bunker Hill Museum front desks. This includes providing welcome, orientation, and informal interpretation of park sites to visitors on a one-to-one or group basis that will increase visitor’s knowledge of the park's significance and relevance. The Visitor Services Assistant will also play an important role in maintaining a welcoming front desk area, creating a positive environment for visitors. This includes fostering a warm and inclusive atmosphere and ensuring that each visitor feels genuinely welcomed and included during their time at National Parks of Boston sites.
Work will consist of assisting rangers at the Charlestown Navy Yard and Bunker Hill on specific days and shifts. Specific duties include answering questions from the public and providing verbal and printed information as needed; providing visitors with clear instructions on how to plan their trip to Boston; informing visitors about programs and events; and giving general park orientation. Additional support tasks may include providing formal and informal interpretation of the historical resources.
