Citizen Schools

Citizen Schools is an education and youth development organization focused on partnering with the Boston community to connect young people to opportunities that will empower them to thrive and succeed. Through close partnership with Somerville Public middle schools, Citizen Schools re-imagines the learning day to bring project based learning into the curriculum and engages volunteers from the community to build connections with young people and bring future pathways to life.

We run various programs for middle school students, all centered on project based learning and providing opportunities for students to work with career mentors. All of our volunteer opportunities are currently remote/online.

Catalyst: Support a middle school science teacher during class as students work on various STEM projects.

ELT: Work with an Americorps Teaching Fellow to lead an afterschool apprenticeship for ten weeks.
