What We Do

Volunteer as an academic mentor to Boston Public Schools students!

Interested in mentoring a BPS student? Boston Partners in Education is seeking volunteer academic mentors to support Boston’s public schools students directly in the classroom as well as online.

What do academic mentors do?

Academic mentors work one-on-one or with a small group of 2-4 students for at least an hour per week during the school day, over the course of the school year. Student/volunteer matches are made based on your preferences for location, schedule, subject, and grade level.

As an academic mentor, you will provide students with additional academic and social-emotional support to help them thrive in and beyond the classroom with the support of a classroom teacher. Opportunities are available in all grades (pre K-12) and all subject areas.

Additionally, at BPiE, we have a fully virtual Independent Learning Support program. Students grades 1-12 can now be nominated by their caregivers to meet with an academic mentor virtually for a minimum of one hour per week, for the duration of the school year.
