Who We Are

The Mission of the Volunteer & Service Learning Center (VSLC) is to support students who seek opportunities to serve others. We do this by being the primary portal for all service activity offered at Boston College, with a strong commitment to the Greater Boston community. The VSLC communicates volunteer needs in the Boston area, offers advisement and resources for service initiatives, provides educational opportunities, and collaborates with other university departments in engaging students in service. The Center supports the education and formation of our students by promoting conscientious service in the context of Catholic social teaching and contemporary Jesuit education.

What We Do

The VSLC offers a number of programs including the BC BIGS program, a partnership with the Big Brother Big Sister organizations of Boston; the First Year Service Program, the English Language Learners program, which matches BC employees who wish to practice their English language skills with a BC student tutor; and Eagle Volunteers, an organization that offers a variety of volunteer opportunities who all share a mission of education of children.
