West River Hospice is seeking people who are 16 years old and older that are kind-heart and possess compassion to spend time with our patients nearing the end of life. We are looking for individuals to volunteer 2-3x per month or more if they choose, to visit with our patients who are mostly at nursing facilities in eastern Massachusetts (Norton, Sharon, Needham, Chestnut Hill, Weston, Sudbury, Andover, and Haverhill). We assign all volunteers in the areas that are convenient for you. Scheduling is based on your availability, nights and weekend visits welcomed and appreciated.
Hospice volunteers are fully trained, oriented with the hospice philosophy and various other topics to best support our volunteers, patients and their families. Training will ensure each volunteer is given the instruction needed to guarantee a rewarding and positive experience. Through their commitment to West River Hospice, volunteers can impact patients in extraordinary ways. Whether reading the newspaper to a patient, sitting outside chatting, listening to music, watch a great movie classic, doing life reviews, play a musical instrument, art therapy, or pet therapy, your time will be well spent and very rewarding!
