Book Club Volunteer Description:
Summary: Book Club leaders will work with one of three groups based on students’ grade level (Group 1: Kindergarten and 1st; Group 2: 2nd and 3rd; Group 3: 4th and 5th). Once a week the Club leader will select a story/stories to present in storytelling sessions, engaging the students and asking them questions that will help them with their reading and comprehension skills. In-person is preferred, but virtual volunteering can be possible.
Requirements:
- Can commit to Tuesdays 2:15pm - 4:15pm (preferably for the full school year; college students should commit to a minimum of a semester)
- Experience or interest in working with school age children and helping with reading is a plus.
- Preferred: Ability to independently curate a list of books or lesson plan
Math Club Volunteer Description
Summary: Math Club leaders will work with one of three groups based on students’ grade level (Group 1: Kindergarten and 1st; Group 2: 2nd and 3rd; Group 3: 4th and 5th). Once a week the Club leader will teach math concepts and learning strategies to students through fun math games, as well as evaluate outcomes to ensure that students are applying mathematical thinking. In-person is preferred, but virtual volunteering can be possible.

- Can commit to Wednesday 2:15pm - 4:15pm (preferably for the full school year; college students should commit to a minimum of a semester)
- Experience or interest in working with school age children and helping with reading is a plus.
